Trigger Warning: This episode contains brief discussion of drug addiction, domestic violence, and suicidal thoughts. Listener discretion is advised. While these topics are part of Miranda’s story, this conversation ultimately centers on hope, healing, redemption, and the faithfulness of God.
What do you do when life keeps getting harder, even after you start following God?
In this powerful testimony episode of the True North Podcast, I sit down with Miranda Roy as she shares her incredible journey from childhood trauma, family addiction, domestic violence, homelessness, and heartbreak to discovering the life-changing hope of Jesus Christ.
Miranda opens up about growing up in a broken home, wrestling with questions about God’s goodness, and reaching a point where she wondered if life was worth living. Yet through every setback, unanswered question, and painful season, God continued pursuing her heart.
Together, we talk about what it looks like to trust God when circumstances don’t make sense, why the Book of Job became one of Miranda’s greatest sources of encouragement, and how God can use even the darkest seasons to draw people closer to Him.

What if obedience to God was never meant to feel like a transaction?
In this episode, I’m joined by Bible teacher and podcast host Kaley Hollingsworth for an honest conversation about biblical obedience, surrender, faith, control, and learning to trust God even when life doesn’t go the way you expected.
We unpack the difference between obedience rooted in love versus obedience driven by fear, and why so many Christians subconsciously approach God with a “if I do this, then You’ll do that” mindset. Together, we talk about what Scripture actually says about obedience, how suffering can deepen intimacy with God, and why surrender is often much harder than we want it to be.
Kaley also vulnerably shares parts of her testimony, including walking through divorce as a Christian woman, wrestling with questions about God’s goodness, and discovering what it truly means to depend on Jesus in difficult seasons.
If you’ve ever struggled with control, fear of messing up God’s plan, striving to “be useful” for God, or wondering whether God is disappointed in you, this conversation will encourage you to stop striving and start walking closely with Him.

The 3 Most Recognized Verses in The Bible (And What They Actually Mean)
Monday Jun 01, 2026
Monday Jun 01, 2026
Have you ever seen a Bible verse on a t-shirt, Instagram bio, coffee mug, or social media post and wondered what it actually means?
Some of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible are also some of the most misunderstood. In this episode of The True North Podcast, I’m unpacking three of the most popular Bible verses—John 3:16, Jeremiah 29:11, and Philippians 4:13—and exploring the context behind them so we can better understand what God was really saying.
Together, we'll look at who these verses were originally spoken to, what was happening at the time, and why understanding biblical context can completely change the way we read and apply scripture today.
If you've ever wondered what it truly means to be born again, trust God's plan during difficult seasons, or find contentment through Christ regardless of your circumstances, this episode will help you move beyond simply quoting scripture and begin living it.

What if the biggest thing holding you back isn’t your circumstances… but the lies you’ve believed about yourself?
In this episode of the True North Podcast, I’m joined by author Hannah Castiaux to have an honest conversation about identity in Christ, breaking free from shame and comparison, and discovering the purpose God intentionally designed you for.
Hannah shares the heart behind her book Intentionally Designed and opens up about her own journey of overcoming insecurity, self-doubt, and the pressure to strive for approval. Together, we unpack the lies so many of us silently carry — feeling unworthy, not enough, disqualified by their past, or stuck chasing a version of themselves the world says they need to become.
This conversation is a reminder that your identity isn’t something you earn — it’s something you receive from God.
If you’ve been struggling with insecurity, comparison, confusion about your purpose, or feeling spiritually stuck, this episode will encourage you to stop striving and start walking confidently in the truth of who God says you are.

Have you ever found yourself resenting your current season because you’re desperate for the next one?
In this episode of, I’m talking about something I think all of us wrestle with at some point: the tension between where we are and where we wish we could be. Whether you’re waiting for a relationship, a career breakthrough, healing, purpose, clarity, or a promise from God to finally come to life, it can feel exhausting to stay hopeful while nothing around you seems to change.
I know what it feels like to wonder:
"Why am I still here?"
"Why hasn’t God moved yet?"
"Why does this season feel so hard?"
And honestly, sometimes life can feel like one giant waiting room.
But in this episode, I want to encourage you with the truth that where you are right now is not wasted. God is doing something in this season — even if you can’t fully see it yet.
Together, we talk about:
- Why hidden seasons matter
- How God uses ordinary seasons to prepare us for extraordinary moments
- What it means to stay faithful while waiting
- Why your current season is part of your calling — not an interruption to it

What does it actually look like to build a strong, personal relationship with God—and why does it feel so hard to stay consistent?
In this episode of the True North Podcast, I’m joined by Jolee Carroll, host of the She Speaks Jesus Podcast and founder of Empower Her Daily, and we’re diving into the concept of “handmade faith.”
Jolee describes handmade faith as a real, intentional relationship with God that isn’t rushed, outsourced, or built on shortcuts—but something you personally cultivate over time.
After stepping away from social media and the constant noise, she realized something I think we all need to hear: faith isn’t formed in distraction—it’s built in the quiet, consistent moments where we choose to show up.
In this conversation, we talk about:
- Why faith takes time, effort, and consistency to grow
- How distraction and “doom scrolling” can quietly weaken your walk with God
- What it looks like to move from passive belief to intentional faith
- The difference between consuming content about God and actually walking with Him
- Why we can’t rely on someone else’s faith—and how we're called to build our own
- What it means to have a solid foundation when life gets hard
If you’ve ever felt like you’re just going through the motions, struggling to stay consistent, or wondering why your faith doesn’t feel as strong as you want it to—this episode is for you.

The difference between cultural and kingdom influence

Why small, obedient decisions matter more than you think
-
What it looks like to choose courage over comfort
